The Law Became Flesh

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." (Matthew 5:17)
Devotional Reflection
From the mountaintop where Moses received the tablets, to the hillside where Jesus preached the Beatitudes, God has never stopped speaking. The Law was not a static set of rules—it was a living invitation to walk with Him. And when Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law, He wasn’t discarding the past. He was embodying its heart.
Some cling tightly to the Torah, believing it holds the purest form of God’s instruction. Others lean into the New Testament, trusting the voice of Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. But Scripture tells us that God spoke through Moses, yes—but also through prophets, apostles, and ultimately through His Son. To follow Jesus is not to reject Moses—it is to see the Law completed in love, mercy, and truth.
Jesus didn’t abolish the Law. He became it. He lived it perfectly. He revealed its true purpose: not ritual, but relationship. Not burden, but beauty.
The Law Is God, God Is the Law
The Law was never meant to be a checklist—it was a mirror of God’s character.
When we follow Jesus, we’re not abandoning the Law—we’re walking with the One who wrote it.
The Holy Spirit convicts and guides us—not to legalism, but to love.
We are not bound to ancient rituals, but we are called to eternal truth.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for speaking through Moses, through prophets, and through Your Son. Help me not to divide Your Word, but to embrace its fullness. Teach me to follow You—not out of obligation, but out of love. Let Your Spirit guide me in truth, and let my life reflect the Law that became flesh. Amen.
