Fixing Our Gaze on Christ (Christian micro-blog)

Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, And not to covetousness. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, And quicken me in thy ways. Confirm unto thy servant thy word (Psalm 119 36-38)

In a world that dazzles with distractions, Psalm 119 gives us a quiet invitation to turn away from vanity, from covetousness, from the endless pull of “more”—and instead, to tune our hearts to the eternal.

“When the world dims my vision, let Your Word be the light that draws me back.”
“When the world dims my vision, let Your Word be the light that draws me back.”

"Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness."   This is more than a plea—it’s a posture of surrender. It says, “Lord, draw my heart closer to You, even when the world pulls hard in the other direction.”

"Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, and quicken me in thy ways."   Every glance toward worldly allurements is a chance to redirect our gaze toward Jesus. We don’t walk in His ways by default—we’re quickened, awakened, stirred into life by His Spirit.

"Confirm unto thy servant thy word."   When doubts arise or trials weigh us down, God’s promises anchor us. He is faithful to affirm His Word in our hearts, not as abstract ideas but living truths that guide and strengthen.

Today, let’s ask the Lord to bend our hearts toward His truth, to guard our eyes from hollow distractions, and to make us alive in His ways. Because nothing this world offers compares to the beauty of beholding Christ.
